Since October 2003 (See bulletin 59 : A new threat looms over Africa - the Regional Economic Partnership Agreements) we keep sending out information on what is at stake with the Economic Partnership Agreements, EPAs, that the European Union wishes to conclude with the ACP (Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific) countries. These news bulletins were interspersed among other news items. We have now put them together under the same umbrella , to allow readers to follow developments in the EU-ACP negotiations more easily. abc Burkina is obviously paying special attention to the West African situation, as represented by the ECOWAS Committee ( The Economic Community of West African States). The agreements, called partnerships, are in fact agreements on free trade. It is interesting to follow the situation of Mexico, and its farmers in particular, because it has already entered into such an agreement with the United States and Canada, the NAFTA - North American Free Trade Agreement.
